How important is having a “nice nurse” at your birth?

Thoughts from the video…

What is evidence-based care? Evidence-based care is a data-driven, scientific approach to patient care decisions. It involves integrating the best available evidence with clinical knowledge and expertise, while considering patients’ unique needs and personal preferences.

3 Things to Consider:

  1. Is your nurse practicing evidence based care? How will you know? What can you do if they are not practicing evidence based care?
  2. Remember they are human too!
  3. Help them be your advocate–your nurse is not a mind reader!

Next Steps in preparing for you baby’s birth:

  • Sign up for an out of hospital (community) based birth class. We have two awesome options right here! Express Birth Class and Savvy Birth 101.
  • Create a birth plan after your birth class, and show your nurse at your birth. Knowing your evidenced-based options is so important!
  • Know your Rights in Childbirth.
