If you’re looking for a childbirth class in Des Moines, Iowa, you want more than a one-time lecture. You want real preparation for birth, the hospital experience, and those first few weeks at home.
Birth 2 Be is a modern, evidence-based childbirth class in Des Moines designed specifically for Iowa families. Our classes are taught by local doulas and childbirth educators who actively support families in Des Moines area hospitals. That means you’re learning from professionals who understand how birth actually unfolds in our local community.
We walk you through what to expect during labor and delivery, including fetal monitoring, common medical procedures, and how hospital technology can affect movement and positioning. You’ll learn how different labor positions and staying mobile can support progress, comfort, and confidence.
Our Des Moines childbirth classes focus on helping you understand your options so you can make informed decisions that feel right for you and your baby. We break down medical terms in simple language, explain patient rights, and teach practical comfort techniques your partner can use right away.
Whether you are planning an unmedicated birth, considering an epidural, or simply want to feel prepared walking into your hospital, Birth 2 Be offers in-person childbirth classes in Des Moines, Iowa as well as online options for busy families across the state.
Please join us for one–or more!–sessions soon!

This ongoing event is for anyone who is expecting a baby and their support partner.
Fee: We have waived the fee for current Iowa Baby Ladies clients; $20 for families not with The Iowa Baby Ladies. *In the event that the in-person events are “sold out” due to space, or you cannot attend the evening session for any reason, please register for the online portion that will be led by one of our doulas via zoom. Do not attend both in person and zoom sessions for the same topic as it is a repeat of the same information.
Education & being a part of a prenatal community is so important, and it’s one of the best ways to increase your chances for a healthier, more positive birth experience for yourself, your baby, and your support partner! (Research agrees!)
If you choose one way to learn about childbirth, we highly recommend participating in the Birth 2 Be Community Childbirth Education experience over the online Express Birth Class. However, if you’re able to do both, you will find there will be some overlapping info and some unique info with each option.
