FAQ

Check through some frequently asked questions and then send us a message! During the process of finding your doula, you will likely hear from:

  • Victoria Fee, our team manager/office admin
  • The Iowa Baby Ladies who have availability for you
  • Katie Nyberg, owner/founder of The Iowa Baby Ladies

Yes! Our team of doulas is currently supporting families in areas from south of Des Moines to the Minnesota border. We currently have both labor and postpartum doulas serving families in central Iowa, west central Iowa, east Central Iowa, and north central Iowa. If your area is included in this map, we’d be happy to share more about what doula support looks like where you live. If you are outside of the area, please send katie@theiowababylady.com a message. She’s trained many doulas in various parts of the state and would love to connect you with a great doula!

Please contact us as soon as you’re even considering having a doula on your birth or newborn team! Due to the nature of our work, we tend to fill up quickly. However, we often have windows of time where we would love to work with other families, so please contact us to see what is available for you!
If you are interested in postpartum doula services, families will contact us at any time in their pregnancy, or even after the baby has arrived! Of course, it’s best to schedule as early as possible, but we would love to help even if it’s last minute!

Because doulas are a non-medical part of birth and postpartum care, we are not currently covered by most health insurances. We encourage you to contact your insurance company to let them know you’d like coverage for doula care! Many of my clients will use their Flex Spending Accounts and/or Health Savings Accounts to off-set doula fees. We are happy to give you some guidance with this process and will provide you with the necessary paperwork.
